Family Trip/ March '09- Part One

Our family took a quick trip to two other states this last week. We went for the ordination service of a missionary friend of ours. As always, family trips mean lots of fun hours spent in the car eating, sleeping, enjoying the scenery and of course, taking pictures so we can remember it all!

We enjoyed a lovely drive over the ParanĂ¡ River, and seeing a huge power-plant located there.

Some of our favorite pastimes are:

Snoozing... (love you, Mom!)

Taking pictures at scenic stops

And, (beleive it or not!) these two are actually studying!
(Jed is working on a research paper so he has lots of reading to do. Alex is trying to learn English so reading together made it more fun for both!
)

Here is our favorite driver. Note the funky glasses :-)

During one long drive, we encountered a spot with a huge line of trucks - it was at least 3 kilometers long. There was a weighing station ahead and all trucks had to stop there. We knew we would have to wait for a long time so we followed the lead of another passenger car and took a farm road beside for a nice, bumpy, and faster detour!

Many times the roads are very dangerous becuase of all the semis, and we saw a few accidents. Here a truck carrying cotton had turned over. At first we had the impression that it was snow on the roads! :-) We thank God for keeping us safe.

As on any trip across Brazil , we see some amazing scenery.

We are blessed to live in such a large, lovely land so full of contrasts.
