Israel Trip - Day 8 - Part 1

Monday, April 30, 2012
So much happened today that I am going to have to split it in to 2 parts to share with you! We visited the underwater observatory at the Red Sea in Eilat before leaving.
The colors of the coral and fish were awesome and pictures cannot begin to show the reality of it!
We traveled through acres and acres of date plantations. We ate a lot of fresh dates and dried dates. It is interesting that dates can grow in salty land and be irrigated with salty water and yet produce such sweet fruit! What an example to us as Christians in a sinful world!
We traveled through deserted places where the Israeli military does practicing and our guide said something that broke our hearts and caused both Antonio and I to weep! He said that there was the possibility of Iran attacking Israel at any moment and that is why he prays; "Oh Lord God help us and save us!" He then said that they are waiting for the Messiah to come and resolve the problems of Israel! We wept because we know that Messiah has already come and Israel rejected Him!
The mountains of salt are incredible! Especially in the place where Sodom and Gomorrah existed!

And here is "Lot's Wife"...a pillar of salt!
As we approached the Dead Sea we saw miles and miles of places where salt is being removed for the sea for use.
We also visited the caves of En Gedi where David hid from King Saul...
...And saw this lovely waterfall where they probably both drank water!
We also visited Ahava...a place that makes cosmetics with minerals from the Dead Sea.
To be continued.........
