Israel Trip - Day 8 - Part 2

Monday, April 30, 2012
As we traveled, we saw many Kibbutz and green houses growing tomatoes, potatoes, onions, green peppers and lots of fruits.
We enjoyed a lot of fresh fruits besides dates on this trip. The fresh squeezed grapefruit juice was delicious!
In the afternoon we visited the city of Jericho. It is presently under Palestinian control and thus an Arab city.
We had a devotional under a huge sycamore tree there....just like the one that Zacchaeus climbed in that same city! Rahab was also saved here!
Near Jericho we visited the "traditional" Mount of Temptation where they say that Jesus was tempted of the devil.
There is a Greek Orthodox monastery on the steep incline of that mount.
Jericho is one of the oldest cities in the world! We saw places of excavation where they have uncovered 27 different archaeological layers!
A view of the street near where blind Bartimaeus cried "Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me!" and was healed!

The sun was beginning to set as we head up to Jerusalem from Jericho. The bus driver put on a CD playing "The Holy City" and told us to look to our left as we came out of a tunnel.
Through tears this is what we saw! Our first sight of Jerusalem!
We stayed at the Ramada in Jerusalem and it was very nice.
The food at the hotel was fantastic also! All Kosher and healthy! Delicious!
And of course they can spell "Coca-Cola" in Hebrew too!
