Rehearsal Dinner - Brazilian Style!

On April 8th we hosted the rehearsal dinner for our son Jed, and his bride Gloria. They wanted something Brazilian so we went traditional and made a churrasco (Brazilian barbecue) for 50 people!

Our theme was tropical Brazil and included lots of birds.

The menu was rice, beans, farofa of bacon and raisins, vinaigrette tomato salad and of course the churrasco meat! We had organic salads for the vegetarian guests and a tropical mousse (lemon/coconut) for dessert. After dinner Dad Duarte gave a little speech and presented the couple with a couple of Tuiuiu birds that he had whittled out of wood with a machete and painted. These huge birds are the state bird of Mato Grosso (our state) and mate for life!
It was a joyous occasion!
